01 — About

A bit about me

Hello! I'm Jason, a Computer Science major at UC Santa Cruz. My interest in programming started with a curiosity for how things work under the hood, and it's grown into a love for building software that's both thoughtful and well-crafted.

Most of what I build comes from problems I actually have. Running an e-commerce business led to an inventory sync platform for eBay and WooCommerce; studying led to StudyPet+, an AI study planner that's live today; and watching login attempts hit my NAS led to a security dashboard for Synology DSM.

I also run my own infrastructure: Dockerized web apps, WordPress sites, and an LMS behind a reverse proxy and Cloudflare, with automated off-site backups. That's where most of my systems and ops experience comes from.

02 — Experience

Where I've worked

Most of my hands-on experience comes from running my own business, from the storefront to the servers it runs on.

DIYGeeks

Self-employed · Morgan Hill, CA · Hybrid

Owner

Jun 2022 – Present
  • Moved the store's WordPress/WooCommerce site from shared hosting to self-managed Docker on OpenLiteSpeed behind Cloudflare, with a web application firewall and daily off-site backups.
  • Debugged a third-party shipping plugin in production and shipped fixes for a checkout fatal error and a broken OAuth callback.
  • Host and administer client sites on the same platform, including WordPress sites and a Canvas LMS instance.

E-Commerce Business Owner

Jul 2020 – Present
  • Founded and run an online store selling through eBay and WooCommerce. Keeping stock in sync across the two is what led to the Inventory Manager.
  • 3D printing for client jobs on three FDM printers and a 16K resin printer.

03 — Work

Featured projects

Things I've built and run in production, from full-stack apps to the tooling that keeps my servers honest.

In progress

eCommerce Inventory Manager

Self-hosted stock sync between eBay and WooCommerce. One append-only ledger is the source of truth and both channels project from it, with idempotent absolute-quantity writes so a retry can never oversell. Correctness is enforced in the database, and anything that spends money or goes public needs a person to confirm it.

TypeScriptNext.jsPostgreSQLDocker

Docker Resource Monitor

An interactive terminal dashboard for running containers. It groups them by Compose project or Swarm stack and shows CPU, memory, and storage per stack against configured limits. Keyboard and mouse controls, and it works cleanly over SSH.

CSE 160: Computer Graphics

UCSC graphics coursework, from vector math and WebGL rendering up to a three.js scene. Every assignment runs in the browser.

Systems & Networking

  • CSE 130
    Principles of Computer Systems DesignA+

Concurrency and synchronization, layering and modularity, naming, client–server and virtualized systems, and performance, with significant systems programming projects.

  • CSE 151/L
    Advanced Computer Networks + LabA+

In-depth routing, transport, and internetworking, plus wireless, application-layer services, and network security, with a hands-on lab.

  • CSE 150
    Introduction to Computer NetworksA

Network layers and internetworking, switching, MAC protocols and LANs, routing, congestion control, and transport protocols, with a hands-on lab.

  • CSE 120
